Walnut, Calif. - After eight events at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, Grand Valley State's women's team has scored 14 points and is in seventh place overall. Three Lakers recorded points in the second day of competition, headlined by Dianna Noonan's second-place finish in the pole vault. The final day of competition is Saturday, May 24.

Noonan vaulted 12'10.25" to claim second place in the pole vault. The first place height was 13'2.25". Noonan's finish earned eight points for GVSU. The Lakers' other six points came in the women's hammer throw. Kathie Posa and Emily Fox both finished in the top eight of the event to score for Grand Valley. Posa threw 174'10" to finish fourth and earn five points, while Fox's throw of 169'10" was enough for eighth place and one point.

In preliminary events, Katherine McCarthy's time of 2:10.07 in the 800-meter run put her in second place among all qualifiers. She will compete in the final round on Saturday. Candice Wheat also picked up a second-place finish, crossing the finish line of the 100-meter hurdles in just 13.90 seconds to earn a spot in the finals.
