Houston, Tx. - After one day of the NCAA Men's Golf National Championships, Grand Valley State University was in a tie for fourth place. The Lakers shot a 283 overall on day one, led by Josh Orler's four-under 66, which tied him for second place. The championships will resume tomorrow morning, May 15.

Orler's 66 led the Lakers, but the rest of the team was right behind him. Josh Burt shot a one-over 71 on the first day, while Matt Malloure finished at three-over with a 73. Tyler Hering also shot a 73, and Mike Basinski shot a 75, finishing five strokes over par on the first day.
