Columbus, Ind. - Grand Valley State University took first place out of 11 schools at the Parkside Invitational on March 29-30. Josh Orler shot a 139, four strokes ahead of the next competitor, to finish first overall at the event. The Lakers' final score of 588 was one point ahead of second place Indianapolis. GVSU now travels to Georgetown, Ky. to take part in the Great Lakes Region Invitational #2 on April 5-6.
Orler shot a daily low round of 69 on the first day to lead the pack, and the closed out with a 70 on day two to win with a score of 139. Orler was four strokes ahead of second place. Matthew Malloure tied for fourth place after tying Orler for the daily low round on day one. He shot a 77 on day two to finish at 146.
Matt Johnson and Mike Basinski both finished tied for 30th place with a 154. Josh Burt and Tyler Hering were the final two competitors for GVSU, coming in at a tie for 48th place with a final score of 157.
